Abstract

Linseed is an important oilseed crop with medicinal and nutritional qualities. It contains a linolenic acid as well as complete protein rich inessential amino acids. Correlation is the mutual relationship between variables helps in identification of the most effective methods for selecting superior genotypes while path coefficients provide information about the direct and indirect impacts of different characteristics on complex traits like yield, which helps to improve the selection process. The present study was conducted during the Rabi season of 2023-24 to study correlation and path coefficient analysis for twelve characters in set of thirty linseed genotypes. The correlation coefficient analysis revealed a positive significant genotypic and phenotypic correlation for seed yield by harvest index, no. of primary branches, biological yield, capsule per plant, plant height, seed per capsule, and secondary branches. The path analysis exhibited a direct positive effect on seed yield per plant through no. of secondary branches and biological yield, at both phenotypic and genotypic levels.
