MEIGNANALAKSHMI SUNDARAM AND EDITH R.

Abstract

In the present study Foldscope was used for identification of eggs in dung sample of cattle. Dung samples were collected from cattle and processed by floatation and sedimentation technique and examined using foldscope. Strongyloides sp Eggs are oval shaped and colourless with composite yolk which were clearly identified by foldscope. Moniezia benedeni are square shaped and have pyriform apparatus with hexacanth embryo and were identified. A portable, easy-to-transport microscope is required at the field level for veterinarians to detect the presence of eggs in cattle dung samples to diagnose the parasite disease. The paper microscope known as the “Foldscope” is foldable and portable and is very useful for identification of eggs in dung samples.
