Abstract
The olive oil refinery is situated at Lunkaransar tehsil of Bikaner. The cold press method is used for oil extraction, which generates 20 to 25% olive oil and 75 to 80% waste water and solid waste. This waste water and solid waste has spread out in nearby agriculture land. So, to find out whether this waste water is useful or not, we have made an attempt to analyze the waste water. For this purpose, we have analyzed the physico-chemical parameters like pH, EC, Turbidity, BOD, COD, Na+, K+, Ca+2, Mg+2 of olive oil waste water. The samples were collected from the origin site of refinery. The analyses of pH, EC were determined by Potentiometric method. BOD, COD were analyzed by titrimetric method. Metal ions Ca+2, Mg+2 were determined by EDTA titrimetric method and Na+, K+ by flame photometer. The results showed that pH of sample is very acidic (3.7 to 4.1 range). EC value is quite higher. Metal ions like Na+, K+ are present in large quantities.
