Abstract

The utilization of groundwater containing elevated levels of fluoride presents a health risk to millions of individuals worldwide. This research seeks to offer an assessment of potentially fluoride-rich groundwaters in Sabi river basin, Rajasthan. The current study involved collecting eighty-three groundwater samples from various sites in the Sabi river basin during both the pre- and post-monsoon periods spanning 2022-23 and 2023-2024. During pre-monsoon season, the fluoride concentration in groundwater ranges from 0.22 mg/l to 3.80 mg/l, while during post-monsoon season, it differs from 0.19 mg/l to 3.61 mg/l. In the Sabi river basin, 98.48% of the area in pre-monsoon period and 98.91% of the area in post-monsoon period exhibit fluoride levels within the permissible limit of F (< 1.50 mg/l) for drinking purposes. The fluoride concentrations remained within acceptable limits for drinking purposes during both seasons.
