Abstract
Immunomodulatory medication Hydroxychloroquine was utilised all around the world during the COVID 19 epidemic. Hydroxychloroquine and its degradative derivatives have been discovered in residual concentration in hospital and municipal wastewater treatment plants. This review discusses available physico-chemical methods for getting rid of this medication. The parent drugââ¬â¢s and its degradative metabolitesââ¬â¢ ecotoxic effects on secondary pollution point to the necessity for environmentally friendly removal strategies for these bio-accumulating pollutants. This review covers how the medicine is used, how to remove it from the environment, and how it affects aquatic animals in terms of ecotoxicology.
