Vineet Kumar and Deepak Kumar Verma

Abstract

This study aims to assess household knowledge of e-waste, environmental issues related to inappropriate disposal, and readiness to participate in e-waste management. The participants in this survey were chosen at random from the NCR Region. In our study, 300 questionnaires were distributed to household respondents; only 240 of those were properly filled out. The survey conducted to gather primarily quantitative primary data from January 2023 and April 2023. The majority of respondents (65%; n = 156) said they would be willing to pay to have their electronic waste properly disposed of. Furthermore, the majority (85%; n = 204) agreed that more education was necessary to increase awareness and knowledge levels. The extended producer responsibility (EPR) policy was also liked by manufacturers and suppliers of electronic goods (81%; n = 194) as a practical method of getting rid of e-waste more quickly. Furthermore, the study offers useful e-waste management concepts and methodologies, such as the potential application of Extended Producer Responsibility in India of the future. This study can help governments and legislators in developing nations like India raise awareness about e-waste management, which would ultimately help the country reach its Vision 2030 targets for sustainable production and consumption.
