Abstract
Here we report occurrence of the migratory species Marecastrepera (Linnaeus, 1758) commonly known as Gadwall from a freshwater pitlake of Eastern Coal Fields, India. The very first pictures (in recent times) are presented with a note on potential threatto its new habitat and possibilities of future research on this species in abandoned coal mined lakes.
