Abstract
A rapid digestion procedure was used for leaching of lead and cadmium from the samples followed by determination of their concentrations by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. Using a mixed modifier increased the capability of the method for more sensitive determination. The concentrations of cadmium and lead in soils and agricultural products irrigated with the effluent of the municipal wastewater treatment plant were determined. The results showed that concentrations of Cd and Pb in such a samples were as high as to be seriously worried about. The relationship between the concentrations of Cd and Pb in farm soils and agricultural products were investigated and a good agreement was found between them. The determination of the concentrations of metals in soils and agricultural products in different farms showed that the longer use of the effluent caused higher accumulation of Cd and Pb in agricultural products.
