The emergence of tuberculosis (TB) thorough out the world has become very alarming as multidrug resistant TB is spreading rapidly everywhere mainly in third world countries. In this situation we need alternative of antibiotics for therapeutic purposes against TB. Early detection of TB is also very much essential for successful treatment of the disease which needs to be improved in the present scenario. Mycobacterium tuberculosis phages that mean Mycobacteriophages have been identified as an important tool for TB research as well as for diagnosis purpose. Phage genome shows a vast area of diversity and mosaic architecture, although they have simple structures which can be applied in genetic manipulations. These important characteristics can be used to construct shuttle plasmid which is very much important in the area of investigating TB. Again, they may be used for rapid diagnosis and testing drug susceptibility against TB. The phage typing method and reporter phage technology are also popular in this context. So total investigation about mycobacteriophage populations and their genomics, more detail knowledge about the pathogenesis of TB and prediction for its diagnosis and therapy may be elucidated.
