EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF A NOVEL ANTIBACTERIAL AYURVEDIC COMPOUND KAISHOREGUGGULUVADAKAM IN THE MICROPROPAGATION OF SCOPARIA DULCIS LINN.ANNIE J. MATHEW. AND K. JAYACHANDRAN
Bacteriological analysis during the different stages of micropropaga tion in Scapona dulcit Linn with leaf explants using Murashige and Skoog medium revealed the presence of many bacterial contaminants. Micropropagation in Murashige and Skoog medium resulted in 70% viable uncontaminated callus and 30% contaminated callus along with callus initiation during 16-20th day period. Whereas the micropropagation in Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with optimized dose of the novel antibacterial ayurvedic compound, Kaishoregliggt(Intokkoni gave 23% uncontaminated viable call. and 17% contaminated callus, but made 60% tubes as non responsive. However, the callus initiation for all the 23% tubes containing uncontaminated viable callus started during 6-10 day period with profuse root formation
