FREE AND IMMOBILIZATION STUDY OF BIOSORPTION OF NICKEL ION USING SCHIZOSACCHAROMYCES POMBEV. Aruna Janani, S. Saravanan and T. SubburajAbstract The lessening of substantial metal particles (Nickel) from fluid arrangements utilizing Schizosaccharomyces pombe was considered in Batch and continuous activity. The batch mode was executed by changing diverse parameters such as pH, temperature and concentration of heavy metal ion. The ideal temperature and pH conditions for heavy metal evacuation and development rate of cell were fixed to be 25 °C and 4.0 respectively. The most extreme decrease of Ni metal particles was found to be 76.5% at an initial concentration of 100 ppm with 2% (v/v) of inoculum fixation at 32 °C. The immobilization of the cells was done by using sodium alginate. The immobilized globules were utilized for the immobilization studies by fluctuating the underlying metal particle concentration and number of beads. The immobilized globules showed higher Nickel metal ion expulsion than free cells. Column studies demonstrated the most extreme expulsion of metal ions at 2 mL flow rate and at the bed height of 15 cm.
