RECREATION ROLE OF OAK FORESTS IN PRIMORSKY REGION

Abstract

This article gives a brief characteristic of oak forests in Primorsky region and describes their recreation role under conditions of enhanced anthropogenic influence. In Primorsky region three types of oaks constitute oak forests: Mongolian Oak, dentate oak and Wutaishan. It is prohibited to cut dentate oaks and the tree is listed in the Red Book of Primorsky region. The oak is cultivated for decorative purposes in gardens. Mongolian oak is one the most wide spread broadleaved species on the Far East in Russia. It covers an area of 3.1 million ha of lands. During the last decades forest areas and stocks with domination of Mongolian oaks has increased which may be explained by the human economic activity.
