REMOVAL OF CRYSTAL VIOLET DYE FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION USING BAUHENIA RACEMOSA SEED POD CARBON

Abstract

In the present work, a low cost, eco-friendly carbon was used as an adsorbent for the removal of Crystal violet(CV)dye from aqueous solution. The adsorption capacity of Bauhenia Racemosa seed POD carbon (BRSC) was evaluated as a function of initial concentration of the adsorbate, adsorbent dose, pH and temperature. The experimental data obtained in this study were analysed by Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms and the adsorption data fitted well with both the adsorption isotherms. The results revealed that the adsorbent (BRSC) used in this study holds a great potential for the removal of crystal violet dye from aqueous solution.
