AVAILABLE MACRONUTRIENT STATUS OF SOIL FROM MANGO ORCHARDS OF RATNAGIRI DISTRICTN. S. Joshi and K.P. VaidyaAbstract For present investigation, total 100 surface and 40 profile samples were collected from five mango orchards of Ratnagiri District. An effort had been made to study the influence of soil depth on distribution of available macronutrients (N, P2O5, K2O, Ca and Mg). From the data, available nitrogen and potassium found to be adequate but status of available P2O5, exchangeable Ca and Mg observed to be poor in most of mango orchards selected for the present investigation. From the results, it was concluded that balanced fertilizer application especially in relation to available phosphorous (P2O5), exchangeable calcium (Ca2+) and exchangeable magnesium (Mg2+) can improve fertility status of soil.
