BIOPROSPECTING MICROORGANISMS OF MARINE ENVIRONMENT – A REVIEW

AYONA JAYADEV AND S.S. NAVAMI

Abstract

Organisms associated with marine environments have greater potential to produce hydrolyzing enzymes such as amylase, lipase, protease, chitinase etc. and hence the bio-prospecting for these compounds is of greater importance. Various screening approaches could be developed to increase the ease with which the microbial products can be retrieved. It can be expected that more efficient and effective application of microbial natural products will contribute to the fields of industries, pollution abatement processes and medicine.
