INVESTIGATIONS IN TO THE ERYTHROAGGLUTININS OF DIEFFENB ACHIA SPECIESL. INGLE, M.G. MUDDESHWAR AND M.B. PATILAbstract Seven varieties of the popular ornamental plant Dieffenbachia were found to contain quite large amount of erythrocyte agglutinating protefns capable of agglutinating human as well as other animal erythrocytes. The ammonium sulfate precipitated proteins were stable up to 80°C and active in the pH range of 4 to 11. Agglutination of erythrocytes by these proteins was not inhibited by either EDTA or any of the metal ions tested.
