SEED MYCOFLORA OF SORGHUM VULGARE AND THEIR CONTROLR.K. AHER, L.N. NAIR AND S.L. KHAPAKEAbstract Sorghum vulgare seeds used as a food source. Moulded seeds were used to find out seed borne fungi and effect of different fungicides on seed borne fungi of freshly collected seeds. Total eight specie of fungi were recorded in blotter as well as PDA, Czapek's and Waksmans medium. Among the various forms Aspergillus flavus dominated the flora. Three fungicides used for seed treatment Bavistin, Dithane M-45 and Contaf were highly effective in controlling the seed borne fungi. It is recommended that the seeds of Sorghum vulgare may be treated with above fungicides for controlling seed borne pathogens.
