A SIMPLE C LODMETRIE METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF SELENIUM FROM FORTIFIED SIIL AND WATER SAMPLESK. Saritha and Prof. N.V. Nanda KumarAbstract Thevetia peruviana seed carboxyl esterase was employed as biosensor for determination of soluble selenium compounds by colorimetric-enzymatic method in fortified soil and water samples. This method was reported for the first time for selenium determination by employing a plant biosource. The method is based on the Thevetio peruviana seed carboxyl esterase inhibition versus selenium amounts. The minimum amount that can be determined is I pg for sodium selenite and selenium dioxide. The method might find application in bioassay of selenium employing a plant biosource. Appropriate clean up procedure was developed suitable for enzymatic method of determination of selenium compound.
