ON THE WATER QUALITY OF AN OX-BOW LAKE - DAH REOTI (BARNA, INDIA) AND ITS SUITABILITY FOR FISH PRODUCTION

Abstract

The paper deals with the physico-chemical complexes operating in the water of an ox-bow lake-Dah Reoti for a period of two years with a view to assess its suitability for future development of fishery. The various parameters monitored in this study include climatic conditions of the area, water temperature, turbidity. pH. dissolved oxygen,free carbondioxide, alkalinity, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD).The observed parameters were found to flucwate within range conducive to high biological productivity in the lake.
