CYCLONIC WIND ENERGY -DISSIPATION AND EXTRACTION TECH- NIQUES FOR COASTAL VILLAGES OF INDIA

Ashutosh Das V.Sriharr and S.R.Uma

Abstract

India is endowed with a long coastal line of 7516.5 km. The villages along coastal line suffer severe damage due to cyclones every year. There is an urgent need to mitigate the disaster with proper management operations. In general, the cyclone resistant shelters are provided for relief and rescue operations. However, pre-cyclone prevention steps have to be taken with respect to the behavior of structures to avoid major destruction and remove the barrier against growth and development of national economy. In this paper, the wind energy dissipation strategies and extraction techniques are attempted and dis- cussed.
