EVALUATION OF GENETIC VARIABILITY, HERITABILITY ANDGENETIC ADVANCES IN DAHLIA (DAHLIA VARIABILIS L.)GENOTYPES

Abstract

The present investigation was carried out to know the genetic variability, heritability and geneticadvances in dahlia with thirty five genotypes. High genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypiccoefficient of variation (PCV) were observed for flower diameter, shelf life, individual weight of flower,number of flowers per plant, flower yield per hectare, tuber yield per plant. Whereas, high heritability (h2)coupled with genetic advance over mean (GAM) was registered highest in plant height, number ofsecondary branches per plant, leaf area, leaf area index number of days taken to first flowering, flowerdiameter, shelf life, individual flower weight number of flowers per plant, flower yield per hectare and tuberweight per plant.
