A STUDY ON POLLUTION ASSOCIATED WITH RUBBER PROCESSING CENTERS IN MOHANPUR BLOCK, TRIPURA, INDIASUMAN KALYAN CHAUDHURY AND SUKANTA SARKARAbstract This paper attempts to highlight the pollution associated with rubber processing centers in the study area. The result indicates that pollution of water and soil from the rubber processing centers was significant. Many of harmful chemicals, as well as heavy metals were present in the waste discharges from the centers. The high level of ammonia found in rubber emission. Such ammonia is very toxic and thus harmful to the aquatic animals and plants. Many workers were having skin and stomach related diseases. Chemical, physical, and natural processes can be used for reducing the pollution level. Majority of processing centers in the study areas did not have any such treatment facilities. Thus the paper suggested that there should be proper monitoring and controlling measures for reducing the harmful emissions from the rubber processing works.
