Abstract

Underground water quality can be assessed by various parameters such as TDS, BOD, COD, temperature, nitrate, sulfate, chlorides, total alkalinity etc. This study is focused on Investigation and analysis of physicochemical parameters of underground water of Baddi-Baroutiwala-Nalagharh (BBN) area of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Underground water samples were collected from four locations in Baddi-Baroutiwala- Nalagarh region and investigated for above said parameters concentration in water. Hand pumps and bore wells were chosen for sampling in this study area. Exceeding the ppm limits of heavy metals such as Mn, Fe, Pb may leads some chronic diseases, those are poisoning for living beings and some other parameters such as Total alkalinity, Total Hardness, sulphate, pH and TDS also exceed from Acceptable limits. The results obtained have been compared with BIS standards for drinking water (BIS: IS: 10500, 2012).
