Abstract

Distimake tuberosus (L.) A.R. Simões & Staples (family: Convolvulaceae), a pantropical climbing vine known for its large yellow flowers and tuberous root system, is reported here for the first time from the state of Karnataka, India. This new distributional record is based on recent field collections from the Haveri and Belagavi districts. The present note provides a detailed morphological description, photographic documentation (photo plate), and insights into the global and Indian distribution of the species. The occurrence of D. tuberosus in Karnataka highlights the need for further floristic surveys in the region, especially in disturbed habitats where this species tends to establish. This report also contributes to the growing knowledge of the flora of Karnataka and may have implications for biodiversity monitoring and invasive species management in the region.
