Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Bihar Agriculture University, Nalanda College of Horticulture, Noorsarai, Nalanda, Bihar during 2019-21 evaluating the effect of different doses of NPK and S application on growth parameters of broccoli. The experiment consisting 3 levels of NPK and S with total 9 treatments combinations (T1- 100 kgN+40 kgP2 O5 +20 kgK2 O+10 kg S/ha, T2-150 kgN+40 kgP2 O5 +20 kgK2 O+10 kg S/ ha, T3-200 kgN+40 kgP2 O5 +20 kgK2 O+10 kg S/ha, T4 =100 kgN+60 kgP2 O5 +40 kgK2 O+20 kg S/ha, T5-150 kgN+60 kgP2 O5 +40 kgK2 O+20 kg S/ha, T6 - 200 kgN+60 kgP2 O5 +40 kgK2 O+20 kg S/ha, T7-100 kgN+80 kgP2 O5 +60 kgK2 O+30 kg S/ha, T8 – 150 kgN+80 kgP2 O5 +60 kgK2 O+30 kg S/ha & T9 – 200 kgN+80 kgP2 O5 +60 kgK2 O+30 kg S/ha) were evaluated in randomized block design. All the treatment combinations are replicated 3 times. Observations were taken at the crop growth period and after harvesting of the crop. Results of both year of experiment revealed that data pertaining to the plant height, no. of leaves plant-1, length of leaves plant-1, width of leaves plant-1, stem diameter, length of curd, width of curd, curd yield, and content and uptake of NPK and S was found significantly higher in treatment T9 (200 kgN+80 kgP2 O5 +60 kg K2 O+30 kg S/ha) which was statistically at par with treatment T8, T6 and T5. Economical study of the experiment revealed that cost of cultivation and gross return was found maximum at treatment T9, while maximum net return was found in T6 and higher B:C ratio was found in treatment T3. Application of NPKS @ 200:80:60:30 kg ha-1 was found increasing the crop growth and yield along with content and uptake of NPKS but not found economical as compared to application of NPKS @ 200:40:20:10 kg ha-1.
