Dr. P. K. Wong's Profile

P.K. Wong has more than 35 years working experience on Environmental Biotechnology/ Microbiology. He received his B.Sc. and M.Phil. degrees from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1977 and 1979 respectively; and Ph.D. degree in Microbiology from University of California at Davis in 1983.

After few years post-doctoral training, he returned to CUHK in 1986 to become a lecturer. Currently, he is a Professor in School of Life Sciences and the Associate Director of Environmental Science Programme, CUHK. He also serve s as visiting professors for Nankai University, South China University of Technology, Central China Normal University and Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry. He is also an Associate Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Environmental Science , a Coordinate Editor of Environmental Geochemistry and Health, and a member of the Editorial Board, Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety.

His research interests include improvement of biological sewage treatment, treatment of toxic pollutants by microorganisms, production of algal biomass for fuels, and integrated treatment of organic pollutants by photochemical and biological methods. He has published more than 270 articles in various aspects of Environmental Biotechnology/ Microbiology /Technology.
