SUSTAINABILITY STATUS OF CATFISH (CLARIAS BATRACUS) AQUACULTURE TO SUPPORT IT’S MARKETING IN MINAPOLITAN AREA, TULUNGAGUNG REGENCY OF EAST JAVA, INDONESIA

Abstract

Aquaculture is one of the potential areas of fisheries to support its marketing were developed by the Ministry of Marine and Fisheries through various policy programs. As a promoter of accelerated development of aquaculture, processing and marketing with the concept of MINAPOLITAN policy, it is necessary to know the sustainability status of catfish (Clarias batracus) aquaculture through the dimension of economic, sosioterritorial, and environment. Research method was survey and cases studies approach. Informants consisted of catfish farmers in the Gondosuli Village and local government agencies. Sampling technique used was disproportional, snowball, and purposive sampling. The data collection method was observation, interview, documentation, questionnaire and triangulation. The method analysis used IDAqua (Les Indicateurs de Durabilite pour I’Aquaculture). IDAqua analysis consist of indicators of aquaculture sustainability status that principled on dimension of economic, sosio-territorial, and environment. The research result showed the sustainability status of catfish aquaculture in Minapolitan area are at levels quite to approaching sustainability, so that the necessary efforts to improve the sustainability status at sustainable level in order to further support its marketing.
