Abstract

The applications of hollow fiber photo catalytic membranes have been expanded in degradation synthetic dye of metanil yellow. The aim of this research is to determine the optimum concentration of TiO2 addition on the characteristic and performance of cellulose acetate-TiO2 hollow fiber photo catalytic membrane for degradation of synthetic dye of methanyl yellow. The hollow fiber photo catalytic membrane was made from dope solution with composition ratio of cellulose acetate, acetone, and formamide (22%, 51% and 27%), respectively, with phase inversion method using five concentrations composition of TiO2, 0.10%, 0.15%, 0.20%, 0.25% and 0.30%. Characterization of hollow fiber photocatalytic membrane are strain, stress, Young’s modulus, flux, rejection, SEM, FTIR and efficiency degradation for metanil yellow. The result of this research provide the optimum hollow fiber photo catalytic membrane was obtained in the composition of 0.25% TiO2. The characterization of the hollow fiber photo catalytic membrane consists of strain, stress, and Young’s modulus were 0.14, 528.36 kN/mm², and 3.77 kN/mm2, respectively. The performance of the hollow fiber photo catalytic membrane with the metanil yellow of flux and rejection were 25.35 L/m2.h, and 96.5%, respectively. The efficiency of degradation metanil yellow and synthetic dye waste were 93.1% and 92%, respectively.
