Abstract

The influence of aquatic organisms on the processes of water bodies self-purification due to fish breeding processes has been studied. The hydrochemical and microbiological conditions of the water in nursery ponds of the two fish farms of the Saratov region in fish farming in mono and polyculture have been determined. After analyzing the water samples taken from the fish ponds throughout the fish growing season, a conclusion has been made that the processes of water bodies’ self-purification are of various intensity, and are aimed at stabilizing the ecosystems of the ponds. It has been noted that active processes of organic substances mineralization occur in the water bodies. In parallel with increasing the number of bacteria involved in the processes of recycling the dissolved organic matter, BOD, COD, and TMC decreased at the end of the fish-breeding season. The best results were observed in the ponds with polyculture. The obtained results enrich the information about the effect of pond-fish farming in the conditions of the water bodies, and of the role of aquatic organisms in the processes of their self-purification.
