EARLY NUTRITION TRAINING AND ITS INFLUENCE TO THE ELEMENTARY STUDENTS AT DON BOSCO CATHOLIC SCHOOL MANADO, INDONESIALeaurensi Meity Sasube and Aldian Hein Luntungan
Nutrition knowledge contributes significantly to personâs nutritional status. Diet and behavior in choosing nutritious foods are some indicators that can be measured based on the level of nutrition knowledge.Awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition should be planted early, especially at school age 5 to 14 years. In this age range children are in a period of growth which requires an adequate nutritional intake.This study: to analyze the influence of Nutrition Education on Nutritional Knowledge of Elementary Studentsat Don Bosco Catholic School Manado. Pre-experiment with one group pretest, post-test design. This research was conducted at Don Bosco Catholic School Manado in March - May 2019. The sample of this study was 96 students of grade IV and V. Measurement of knowledge level is done through multiple choice objective tests with questionnaire tools. Questionnaires were given before and after the intervention were carried out. Showed that nutrition education had an influence on the level of nutrition knowledge of children with a P value = 0.008 (<0.05). The level of nutrition knowledge was increased by 41.53% while the poor nutrition knowledge decreased by 31% after nutrition education that was given. Nutrition education significantly improved that the nutrition knowledge of the elementary students at Don Bosco Catholic School Manado.
