Abstract

The purposes of this study were to evaluate the ability of Pb (II) removal by using adsorbents derived from a mixture of tofu solid waste and bentonite, to study the characteristics of adsorbent. To study the metal removal ability, the series of experiments were carried out by conducting batch experiments, process parameters studied were pH and mass adsorbent. The variation of pH studied was in the range of 2-7 while the variation of the adsorbent mass studied was in the range of 0.1-0.25 g. The highest removal of Pb (II) was obtained at pH 2 and the mass of the adsorbent of 1 g. The characteristics of the adsorbent were studied by FTIR and SEM EDX analysis. From FTIR analysis, the information on wave number shift was obtained, from SEM analysis, information obtained was about the deposition of Pb (II) on the surface of the adsorbent after adsorption and verified by information from EDX analysis (the presence of Pb after adsorption). The three analysis results showed that there was adsorption of Pb (II) by the adsorbent.
