Abstract

This study aims to obtain the concentration of aluminum metal in water and mud, to test the correlation between the concentration of aluminum metal in water and sludge, and to calculate the pollution load of Surabaya River water. The method of the research includes collecting data of laboratory analysis result from aluminum metal concentration in water and mud at five point locations. Those locations are from Drinking Water Treatment Plant (DWTP) Karangpilang to Dam Gunungsari taken on June 5, 2017, July 5, 2017 and August 5, 2017, as well as collecting water flow data of Surabaya River at the location and the date of research from Perum Jasa Tirta. The data processing for correlation uses Minitab 16. The result of the research is that the average content of aluminum metal in river water from point 1 to 5 is: 0.91 mg/L, 0.68 mg/L, 0.61 mg/L, 0.44 mg/L,0.47 mg/L, the content of aluminum metal in sludge from point 1 to 5 is: 22,016.63 mg/L, 16, 984.28mg/L, 15,497.65 mg/L, 14,213,57 mg/L, 14,372.93 mg/L. The average correlation analysis of the aluminium metal content of sludge and water has a very strong correlation so that these dimension and suspension process of aluminium are possible at the study site. The aluminium pollution load from point 1 to 5 in Surabaya River between DWTP Karangpilang and Dam Gunungsari is: 2,857 ton/day, 2,036 ton/day, 1,853 ton/day, 1,214 ton/day, 1,241 ton/day.
