IDENTIFICATION OF CORAL REEFS ON MAMBURIT ISLAND ATWINDWARD AND LEEWARD SITES

Abstract

The research was carried out in July 2017 in MamburitWaters,SumenepRegency.The aim of this study wasto determine the percentage of coral reefs and to find out the types of coral reefs. The material used consistedof coral reefs, using Line Intercept method which was stretched parallel to the coastline at a depth of 3meters and 10 meters in the winward and leeward areas then observations for coral reef identification.Thepercentage of living coral reefs in the LeewardI on 3 meters depth is 59.85%, its mean good category and thepercentage of dead coral reefs and other fauna as much as 41.15%, leeward II found live coral reefs as muchas 59.96% it can be called medium category and other fauna coral reefs 39.77%, Windward I with a depth of3 meters, the percentage of live coral reefs is 70.02% in good category and the percentage of dead coral reefsand other fauna as much as 29.71%, while windward II living coral reefs 59.96% and 39.77% is dead coral.The percentage of living coral reefs at 10 meters depth, Leeward I is 75.49% including the medium categoryand the percentage of dead coral reefs and other fauna 24.51% and leeward II found the percentage of coralreefs as much as 61, 37% including the medium category. And at windward location, the percentage of livecoral reefs is 79.52% categorized as medium and the percentage of dead coral reefs and other fauna is20.48%, while at windward location II the percentage of live coral reefs is 51.73% including the mediumcategory and dead coral reefs and other fauna 48, 27%.
