EVALUATION OF ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF METHANOL, ETHANOL AND DIMETHYL SULFOXIDE EXTRACTS OF EUPHORBIA HIRTA L. AGAINST PATHOGENIC BACTERIA STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUSINDU KUMARIAbstract Evaluation of antimicrobial activity of Methanol , Ethanol and Dimethyl sulfoxide extracts of Euphorbia hirta L. against human pathogenic bacteria Staphylococcus aureus was done by Agar Disc Diffusion method. Different aerial parts of plant such as leaf, bud and stem were extracted using methanol, ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide solvents . Maximum in vitro inhibition was scored in methanol extract of leaf and bud with 20 mm inhibition zone and zone of inhibition area of 471.00 mm². Other extracts were effective in controlling the growth of test Bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Dimethyl sulfoxide extract of stem of E. hirta showed poor inhibition which recorded zone of inhibition of 10 mm and zone of inhibition area of 157.00 mm².
