MARINE ACTINOMYCETES: A POTENTIAL BIOACTIVE HUB FOR INDUSTRIAL ENZYMES, ITS PRESENT KNOWLEDGE AND FUTURE SCOPE

SK. CHAND BASHA

Abstract

Marine microbial diversity intrigues researchers as a source of novel bioactive compounds, but its bioactive exploration is still in infancy. Adaptations to extreme environmental conditions of marine region make marine actinomycetes as a hub of bioactive compounds in general, and industrial enzymes in particular. Broad concept of bioactivity has been discussed, which embodies the number of natural compounds discovered so far and its categories. Bioactivity of actinomycetes has been specifically outlined. Varied industrial applications of industrial enzymes produced by marine actinomycetes have been summarized to give an outlook on the potentiality of marine actinomycetes. Present knowledge regarding the industrial enzymes done between 2006 – 2017 has been critically reviewed to depict the marine actinomycetes Industrial bioactive potentiality. Future scope of the marine actinomycetes has been interpreted in the light of advanced tools – Metagenomics and Culture Independent techniques. In addition to it, various advanced novel tools for bioactive exploration have been discussed to emphasize the indomitable potentiality of marine actinomycetes industrial enzymes in particular, and its varied bioactivities in general. Finally, based on the consolidated knowledge on the Industrial enzymes potentiality, the review concludes that an integrated strategy is imperative for sustainable bioactive exploration of marine actinomycetes.
