NOISE POLLUTION DURING LOCAL FESTIVAL, ALLAHABAD

Abstract

In modern age, noise pollution is a curse of industrialization and urbanization, for environment. If noise pollution is not kept in check then it will lead a serious problem in future. The present study deals with the monitoring of noise level before mela day (Non –festive day) and mela day (Festive day) at sites Teliarganj and Rajapur of Allahabad city. The results of equivalent (Leq)noise level exceed the limits of noise standard set by CPCB upto 35.95% at 6:00 PM- 7:00 PM (day time), 39.96% at 3:00- 4:00AM (Night time) and 49.94 % at 6:00 PM- 7:00 PM (day time), 62.11% at 1:00- 2:00AM (Night time) respectively non- festive and festive season at site 1 and Leq level at site 2 Rajapur results reflected that 36.53% at 6:00 -7:00 PM and 42.51 at 9:00 -10:00 PM during non festive day and festive days its reaches upto 46.48% at 6:00-7:00PM and 61.48% at 3:00-4:00AM.
