By the number of generations per year, there are 3 groups: monovoltine (30 species), bivoltine (7 species), and polyvoltine (12 species). The winter diapause occurs in the adult stage (37 species), in the larval stage (1 species), in the larval and imago stage (2 species), and in the egg stage (9 species).
