WATER BALANCE MODEL FOR ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTIVE POWER SIMULATION (CASE STUDY AT KOTA MALANG),INDONESIA

Abstract

The most important source in life is water. Without water, these would be no life in this earth. This researchaimed to find out the need and availability of water in Malang City, Indonesia. The method of the studyused spatial analysis by comparing the availability of water and the need of water in Malang City. Researchshows water availability in Kedungkandang Sub-district was 66037895 m3 year-1, Sukun Sub-district was34715835 m3 year-1, Klojen Sub-District was 14618065 m3 year-1, Blimbing Sub-district was 29418235 m3 year-1 and Lowokwaru Sub-districtwas 37414300 m3 year-1. Water demand for Kedungkandang sub-district was54050236,90 m3 year-1, Sukun subdistrict was 45115424,22 m3 year-1, Klojen sub-district was 5144727,93 m3year-1, Blimbing subdistrict was 19676211,40 m3 year-1 and Lowokwaru was 37408277,42 m3 year-1.Environment supportive status for Klojen sub-district in surplus or safe condition, Blimbing andKedungkandang sub-district in secure conditional, whereas Sukun and Lowokwaru had unsafe status.
