PATTERN OF RESISTANCE BY VARIOUS PATHOGENS TOWARDS SELECTED ANTIMICROBIALS AND HEAVY METALS

H.M. NIRBHAVANE AND U.S. BAGDE

Abstract

In this comparative study of sensitive and resistant pathogens towards the antimicrobials selected from different Classes such as third generation Cephalosporin (Ceftazidime), Moxifloxacin (Quinolone), Nalidixic acid (Fluroquinone), and Sufamethaxazole (Sulfa drugs) has been made. Different isolates of pathogens were found to be sensitive and resistant to these antimicrobials and Heavy metals Nickel and Lead also. The sensitivity of all these organisms was tested towards the antimicrobial discs of the antimicrobials. The Hicomb MIC was also determined and the MIC of Antimicrobials and Heavy metals towards the various pathogenic species was obtained. The resistance pattern seen in the study is a useful tool to understand the resistance in particular with respect to CAZ, MO, NA, SM, and Nickel and Lead.
