STUDY THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITIONS OF THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF ROSMARINUS OFFICINALISAli Akbar Moghadamnia, Soheil Ebrahimpour, Seyed Hassan Zali, Porya Biparva, Sohrab Kazemi and Parvin Sajadi KaboodiAbstract Rosemary or Rosmarinus officinalis whose essential oil has been used in pharmaceutical, food and health industries is a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae). The aim of this research was to study the effective components of this essential oil. In this experimental study on rosemary, first, these plants were collected from the north of Iran second, their essential oil was extracted by distillation method and Clevenger apparatus (hydrodistillation) after drying then the components of essential oils were analyzed and identified by GCMS. The main components of the essential oil of Rosmarinus Officinalis were both 1,8-cineole (16.01%), alphapinene (12.7%) and after them were borneol (8.5%), linalool (5.2%), campherol (4.5%), bicyclo (4.3%), geraniol (4%), camphene (3.9%) and nerol (3.5%), respectively. Considering the main constituents of the essential oil of rosemary especially 1,8-cineole and alpha-pinene and great potential of north of Iran for growing plants, rosemary can be provide a clear vision for its future as one of the most important herbs in traditional and modern medicine.
