ASSESSMENT OF PERFORMANCE OF VILLAGE ADMINISTRATORS IN FIELD OF SUSTAINABLE RURAL ECONOMY (SHEMIRANAT COUNTY, IRAN)

Abstract

This study was conducted to assess performance of village administrators in field of sustainable rural economy (cases study: Shemiranat Country). Statistical population of this study consisted of all rural household heads in Shemiranat, Iran. According to obtained data from provincial gubernatorial, there are 16 villages with village administrators that 4113 households are living there; 352 household heads were selected to fill out questionnaires using stratified sampling method and Jersey Morgan Table considering properties of statistical population. To evaluate performance of village administrators in the field of sustainable rural economy, researcher-made questionnaire was used. Reliability of this questionnaire obtained to 0.85 using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Data obtained from questionnaires were analyzed using explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis and one-sample t test and results showed that performance of village administrators of studied area was not appropriate in field of rural sustainable economy; it means village administrators could not do their tasks related to sustainable rural economy. Hence, village administrators and their cooperators should find practical and innovative solutions for this problem.
