CHITOSAN-COATED SOYA PROTEIN CONCENTRATE-CLOSITE 30B NANOCOMPOSITES FILMS FOR MORPHOLOGICAL, MECHANICAL, THERMAL AND BIODEGRADABILITY PROPERTIESNABA KISHORE PRADHAN, MIRA DAS AND P.L. NAYAK
In this present work, chitosan (CS) coated Soya protein concentrate (SPC) blended with Closite 30B (C30B) were prepared by employing the solution casting method. The physical and chemical properties of CS coated SPC/C30B were investigated using XRD, FTIR, SEM, TGA and tensile strength. The biodegradation properties of sample were measured by micro-organic culture testing, enzymatic absorbance in water, soil burial and compost testing in both laboratory and field condition. CS coated SPC-C30B nanocomposite films exhibited favourable physical properties. However, the results of tensile strength and elongation at break tests demonstrated the fact that when C30B content increased, the tensile strength increased up to 7.5% at same time the strength increased by coating CS on SPC/C30B again. The morphology study showed exfoliation form of SPC/C30B and CS coated SPC/C30B nanocomposites.
