INVESTIGATION ON ECOFRIENDLY BINDER WITH FINE GRINDED FLY ASH AS POZZOLANIC REPLACEMENT

L. Ponraj Sankar and L. Andal

Abstract

This paper presents the influence of fine grinded fly ash (FGFA) as pozzolanic replacement to binder. The OPC cement was replaced with FGFA in 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, 40%, 45% and 50% to weight of cement. The consistency of water is tested and based on the values cement pastes are manufactured and tested for its initial setting time and final setting time. These binders are tested for its strength development over a period of 180 days, and the results show that the setting time and strength development was highly influenced by the percentage of FGFA replacement. This study shows that usage of finer fly ash show higher strength gains at later ages of mortar.
