Tourism in the third millennium is considered as one of the most important driving forces of economic development and revenue generator industry in the world along oil and automobile industries. Therefore, besides cities as one of the most important tourist destinations, today, the villages are welcomed due to unique tourist attractions and morphological natural conditions. Climatic elements along with socio-cultural structures of the village create a variety of villages each of which is distinct physically in the type of architecture, type of housing, pattern of residence, type of livelihood, customs, traditions and culture. These creator distinctions make rural tourists interested in visiting these areas. Today, rural tourism has attracted the attention of a large number of tourists in most countries as one of the most popular forms of tourism. As one of the rural tourism districts of Khorasan Razavi, which annually attracts thousands of tourists from other places, Chenaran has become the hub for rural tourism. The main question of the study was what effect tourism has on the economic situation of villagers in the study area. In the present study, field and non-field methods were used to collect information. In the field method, the research tool was a questionnaire to test the hypothesis. The results showed that tourism development could bring about rural development. The results also suggested that the study area could take benefit from tourism as a suitable option for rural economic development given its tourist status and its proximity to Mashhad Metropolis.
