EFFECT OF CONVERSION OF AGRICULTURE LAND ON AIR POLLUTION EMISSION OF CO2 (THE CASE STUDY IN THE SETTLEMENT SAWOJAJAR, MALANG, EAST JAVA, INDONESIA)RUSLAN WIROSOEDARMO, ALEXANDER TUNGGUL SUTAN HAJI AND KIKI GUSTINASARIAbstract The research is aimed to review the impact of over the function of farmland into residential landto increase of air pollution and the need of green open spaces. This research used descriptivequantitative method and spatial methods with the help of Arcview 3.3 software. The result showedthat the total of CO2 emission resulting from the activities of the Housing of Sawojajar reached13,540,001.95 Kg/year while total CO2 absorption capability from the green open spaces existence reached 5,760,532.25 kg/year. The total of emissions that not yet were absorbed by 7,779,469.7 kg/year. The distribution of emissions load in each residential bloks (RW) was between 82000-760000kg/year. Only 3 of the 23 residential bloks that had fulfilled the amount of green open spaces. Theneed for additional plants that had absorption of CO2 emissions that were high in areas that hadnot been fulfilled.
