EFFECT OF DOSAGE AND ISOTHERM STUDIES ON MIXTURE OF FERROMANGANESE ORE AND HUMUS FOR MANGANESE REMOVAL FROM MINE EFFLUENTNorinsafrina Mustaffa Kamal, Hamidi Abdul Aziz, Shamsul Kamal Sulaiman and Hashim HussinAbstract Ferromanganese ore and humus had been applied as a mixture and by individually in a batch study with different dosages to examine their effectiveness in removing manganese (Mn) from mine effluent. Also, isotherm studies using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were performed to analyze the sorption of Mn. For the batch study, optimum dosage of 3g of the mixture Ferromanganese ore and humus with 50%, 50% mix ratio has recorded Mn removal by 92%. The humus has 90.2% Mn removal at optimum dosage 3g while the ferromanganese ore has maximum Mn removal of 73.3% at 4g. The ferromanganese ore and the humus adsorptions fits well with Langmuir isotherms model (r2>0.9). In contrast, the mixture of ferromanganese ore and humus has a good fitting to the Freundlich isotherm model with the r2 value of 0.987.
