BATCH MODE STUDIES ON THE REAL-TIME REMOVAL OF COPPER IONS FROM PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS OF MOBILE PHONES BY ADOPTING SODIUM ALGINATE BEADSS. Shanmugam, T. Meenambal and Lakshmi Priya ThyagarajanAbstract The study concluded the potential use of the alginate beads for the adsorption of Cu(II) ions from the aqueous solution of the aid solution leached from the mobile phone PCBs. The amount of Cu (II) ions adsorbed on to alginate beads increased with the concentration and dosage of the adsorbent. The Langmuir isotherm exhibited monolayer adsorption of the Cu (II) ions on to the alginate beads. These alginate beads form good adsorbent for recycling the Cu (II) ions from e-waste and also being a natural biopolymer, it can be disposed of eco-friendly manner.
