This paper presents high voltage gain converter-fed brushless dc (BLDC) motor drive for smart farm applications. A single voltage sensor is used for the speed control of the BLDC motor by varying the dc voltage. BLDC motor operates low switching frequency reduces switching losses in dc to dc converter. This adaptability makes proposed high voltage gain converter appealing in renewable applications such as solar photovoltaic system. The speed of the BLDC motor is controlled by voltage source inverter for the electronic commutation of the BLDC motor. The proposed BLDC motor drive with high gain dc to dc converter is designed to operate in a wide range of speed control with an improved supply voltage. The proposed drive is modeled in MATLAB-SIMULINK environment with results obtained for steady state and dynamic response on a developed prototype model of BLDC motor drive.
