Abstract

The paper presents the results of comparative testing of spring soft wheat cultivars. The purpose of the research is to study the yield and quality of grain of commercial cultivars of spring soft wheat cultivated in Northern Kazakhstan. Based on the conducted studies, it was found that the cultivars ‘Baiterek’, ‘Celina 50’, ‘Karagandinskaya 22’, ‘Omskaya 18’, ‘Omskaya 28’ exceeded the standard cultivar ‘Akmola 2’. It was also found that the following crop structure elements had a great influence on forming the yield capacity of cultivars: the number of fertile tillers, the number of grains per ear and the mass of 1,000 grains. The cultivars ‘Shortandinskaya 95 uluchshennaya’, ‘Baiterek’, ‘Omskaya 28’ combined a high number of grains per ear with a high mass of 1,000 grains. Based on the results of the analysis, the cultivars with a high protein content and sediment particles were determined: ‘AsylSapa’, ‘Omskaya 35’, ‘Surenta 3’, ‘Baiterek’, and ‘Shortandinskaya 2007’. According to the genetic analysis of glutenin content, all genotypes contain valuable alleles associated with good baking qualities.
