Abstract

Potato early blight is one of the most harmful diseases of potato leaves (Solanum tuberosum L.),common throughout the territory of its cultivation. To identify the causative agent of early blight in the South-East of Kazakhstan were analyzed samples of affected potato leaves in 17 cultivars. On the basis of morphological characters the pathogen is related to the complex of species ‘Alternaria alternata’ or section of genus ‘Alternata’. As a result of PCR analysis it was found that the selected isolates of the pathogen of early blight of potato belong to the group of species A. alternata /A. tenuissima. The first symptoms of early blight on the South-East of Kazakhstan appeared on potato leaves in the budding phase. The development of the disease in this period ranged from 2% in the cultivar Birlik to 9% in the cultivar Berkut. In the phase of flowering were found significantly more of infected plants, a progression of the disease was noted within the range from 5% in the cultivar Birlik to 21% for the cultivar Tamyz. At the end of wilting of foliage a development of early blight ranged from 30% in the cultivar Aksor to 59% in the cultivar Fedor
